I think that everyone has their own routine at the end of a busy day. That could be jumping straight into your pajamas or having a long soak in the bath. Whatever suits you to unwind and get ready for some well earned beauty sleep.
When the kids have gone to bed, dogs have been walked and favorite TV show watched then it's time to start getting ready for bed. I don't have a bath in my house so opt for a nice hot shower instead.
In preparation for a good nights sleep, my routine is to take off my make up from the day with some simple yet effective products followed by a good bout of moisturizing. I have tried so many different products for my night regime but most broke me out in spots or plain irritated my skin, but I think I've finally found a bunch of products that works for me.
Products
The first thing I use to remove stubborn eye make up is the Nivea Eye Make up Remover Lotion. I have really sensitive eyes so I find most eye make up removers leaving me with irritated, stinging eyes but this one is gentle enough to use. I use it with a cotton wool pad on which I use a few drops to remove the make up from both eyes. I've also tried holding it over my eye for a little while to help loosen up thick mascara and it seems to do the trick.
I follow up with the Garnier Micellar Water all over my face to remove the rest of my make up. I also use a cotton pad for this. It is such a fantastic product and leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed. You don't have to wash it off either.
After waiting a minute or two, I breathe some moisture back into my skin by using Bio-Oil. It has taken a while for me to get used to putting oil on my face as I'm always conscious of causing breakouts but I think using this in combination with the other products has kept my spots at bay (mostly!).
The last thing I do before going to sleep is moisturize my hands with the Rituals Happy Hands Lotion. It smells amazing and because of the mix of orange and mint, it really does make me feel happier when I smell it (I know, I'm strange), so I love using this at night time.
You can read so many things online about how to arrange your bedroom and how to get the best nights sleep but you can easily get lost in it all. I do not switch off my mobile phone (like, ever!) and if I did I would probably stay in bed until about 11 am (my phone is my alarm clock). I don't think my boss would like that very much. There is one piece of advice that I have taken on board though and that is to use an eye mask. It has seriously made my nights sleep way better and it means that my husband can read in bed without disturbing me. Win, win.
I love this eye mask that I picked up when I was browsing the cheap aisles at a local household store. It only cost me €1 and it's nice and bright. It is silky on the outside and a little furry on the inside so it feels lush to wear. Definitely the best thing I've picked up for a euro recently!
What do you do before you go to bed?
Thanks for reading!
