Learning a new language is never easy and especially for someone like me who has never been able to truly wrap my head around any other language than my mother tongue. But that doesn't mean a girl can't try though and I've decided to take up learning Spanish.
Along with a colleague of mine who is going to Spain in the summer and has finally decided to take the plunge and learn the language, I have been practising a few things a day and so far it's going quite well.
Before I moved here, I began learning Spanish but then stopped to better concentrate on my Dutch courses. I lost all of my learning resources over the years so at the moment I am just using Duolingo. If you are unfamiliar with this website then I must say that it is quite effective as it takes you through exercises on different aspects of the language you wish to learn and makes you listen, write and even speak in response to the questions so that it can really drill the words and meanings into your mind. I used it first for learning Dutch and there are many other languages that you can learn through this site. There is also a mobile phone app so that you can practise and learn on the go.
I don't know how to say too many things yet but once I do know more then I'll have to book a holiday to Spain to test out my new language skills.
Thanks for reading! Buenos días!
