You can't do everything

Life is short and in this day & age, it is also extremely fast paced. We have more opportunities now to see and do more than the generations before us so naturally we want to do everything. When I think of the things that I want to do in a week; it's unrealistic to do it all unless I turn into super woman!

I would like to go to the gym 3 times a week, play with my kids for hours each day, have a spotless clean home, paint that picture, go on long walks with my dogs, visit somewhere new & interesting and anything else that springs to mind, alongside spending 40 hours at work each week to earn the cash needed for shopping of course.

The fact of life is that doing everything is simply impossible, so how do you whittle all those things down into manageable chunks?

I have been trying to organize my life a bit better so that I can "fit everything in" and to be truly honest; it's not something you can do overnight. I found that the only way to begin is by hitting the pause button. It may seem strange but to evaluate all of things that you've been trying to cram into your schedule, then you first need to take a step back.

Something that can help is to make a list of the things that you want to do and give them a rating out of 5 on how important they are. For the ones you give a very important rating, you need to name 3 reasons why it is so important.
This should give you a better idea of what to focus on and then you can test it out in reality.

I've gained inspiration and ideas from some great posts such as:

A Beautiful Mess - How to stay motivated and achieve your goals

The Guardian - Change your life & stop being busy

And to really kick yourself up the butt, try reading this short post:

Jenny Purr - Life's too short

What it really comes down to is realizing what's important enough to spend your time doing and then managing your time & life should become a lot easier.

Thanks for reading!
