Packing Guide For A Sleepover

As any parent will undoubtedly encounter, there comes a time when your child will have their first sleepover. This is a time filled with mixed feelings of worry that they'll be away from home for the first time and also of elation that you will finally have the evening all to yourselves without having to be concerned whether the TV is too loud.

This is a great time for kids to explore what a day or two without mum and dad around is actually like, and also gives you a chance for a much needed break.

So... the arrangements are made for the sleepover and now you've got to figure out what to pack so that they have everything they need but are not weighed down by a massively heavy bag.
Here is a guide of what I normally pack for my kids when they are having a sleepover and I hope it will be helpful for you too.

Backpack - a good backpack will be large enough to fit all of their bits and bobs in without being too large for them to carry of their own.

Sleepwear - I like to pack a nice pair of pajamas for my kids to sleep in. Make sure that they are in good condition as you don't want your child to be embarrassed by wearing worn out clothes.

Change of clothes - This should consist of basic underwear (vest, underpants, socks) and a simple outfit that they can dress themselves in without any (or much) help.

Toiletries - I don't know why but whenever it comes to packing to go away, that the toiletries always seem to be the last thing on my mind and are often forgotten. That's why I thought it was important to add it on to this packing guide. All you need really is a toothbrush and toothpaste, a hairbrush and product (if needed).

Cuddly toy - If there's one thing I've learned about my kids and sleepovers is that you should never, ever forget to pack their favorite cuddly toy. The resulting tantrum is just not worth it so make sure you pack it every time.

Activity book - Even with the excitement of a sleepover, your child can always become bored. I pack an activity book or magazine to make sure that they will always have something to do.

I hope you find this packing guide useful for when your child goes on a sleepover and feel free to share your own packing tips in the comments.

Bye for now!
